George the second, etc., To all etc Know ye that for the consideration mentioned in an order of our trusty and well-beloved William Gooch____ etc, our Lieutenant Governor and Commander in Chief of our Colony and Dominion of Virginia in our Council of the said colony granted to John Robinson Esquire, James West, Henry Robinson and John Lewis, the twenty-ninth day of October one thousand seven hundred and forty three
We have given, granted and confirmed and by these present for ____ own heirs and successors do give grant and confirm unto Charles Gillham on certain tract of parcel of land containing two hundred and sixteen acres lying and being in the County of August on the Cow Pasture River and bounded as followeth to wit:
Beginning at a Maple and Elm on the West side of the River
South thirty five degrees east, one hundred and twenty eight poles crossing the River to Maple Dogwood and white Oak
North fifty five degrees east one hundred and forty six poles to two white oaks by a Run
North fifteen degrees east one hundred and eight poles to a Red oak
North ten degrees west sixty poles to two white oaks corner to a tract in possession of James Hall thence with the lines of said tract
South eighty seven degrees west fifty four poles crossing the river to two water beeches
North twenty degrees west fifty four poles to two white oaks and an elm on the side of a mountain
South thirty six degrees West two hundred and thirty six poles to the beginning
With all etc to have hold etc to be held etc yielding and paying etc provided etc in witness etc
Witness our trusty and well-beloved Francis Fauquier Esquire, Lieutenant Governor and Commander in Chief of our said Colony and Dominion at Williamsburgh under the seal of our said Colony the twenty sixth day of September, one thousand seven hundred and sixty in the thirty fourth year of our Reign
