Bacon vs. Manning
Updated November 25, 2022

Background:
James Gilliam of Littleton Parish apparently marries between 1765 and 1767, Catharine Mannin of New Kent, presumed to be the widow of Charles Manning of New Kent. Charles Manning is listed as living adjacent to Edmund Bacon in Saint Peter’s processioning. Edmund’s Executrix and wife, Elizabeth sues Catharine Manning for trespass. Sometime after the suit begins 1765, Catharine becomes Catharine Gilliam. Catharine survives James Gilliam who leaves a Will in 1774. She continues to appear in Southam Parish records and tax records until 1789.
